Business English

CCEL’s Business English course is ideal for students planning to use English in their careers.

KEY INFORMATION

  • Course length - 6 weeks
  • Start dates - 8 start dates per year
  • Programme - Full-time 25 hours per week
  • Levels available - pre-intermediate to upper intermediate

COURSE OUTLINE
This course introduces business language and concepts including:

  • Business vocabulary
  • Making presentations
  • Negotiating
  • Participating in meetings
  • Telephone communication
  • Business writing (reports, formal letters, emails and memos)
  • Cross-cultural awareness in business contexts

PLACEMENT AND ASSESSMENT
Minimum entry levels apply. Placement in a Business English class will depend on level assessment. The Business English level assessment can be taken overseas before arriving in New Zealand.

CLASS BLOG
The Business English class sometimes uses a blog. It includes information about class topics, interesting business articles, useful video clips, and a weekly review of their study. You can look at the Business English blog here.

 

Executive Business English

This course is for people with high level English, who want to gain even greater accuracy and confidence in written and spoken language in business contexts.

KEY INFORMATION

  • Course length - 6 weeks
  • Start date - 20 February 2012
  • Programme - Full-time 25 hours per week
  • Levels available - pre-intermediate to advanced

COURSE OUTLINE
You will learn how to:

  • Participate in a range of business situations such as meetings and presentations
  • Discuss business topics in detail with fluency and accuracy
  • Understand English spoken by native and non-native speakers in business situations
  • Have an awareness of cross-cultural communication in business contexts
  • Write business reports, formal letters, formal emails, and memos

PLACEMENT AND ASSESSMENT
Each student will be sent a needs analysis prior to the course start date to ensure that the areas they need the most work in are covered during the course.
