Visa Requirements

All visitors to New Zealand must carry a passport that is valid for at least three months beyond the date they intend to leave the country.

Currently travellers from more than 50 countries do not require a Visitor's Visa for stays of less than three months; they will get a permit to stay for 90 days on arrival.

If you come from one of these countries and want to stay for longer than 3 months you will have to apply for an extended Visitor’s Visa or a Student Visa, depending on the length of your study time.

If you are studying for more than 3 months you will require a Student Visa and to be eligible you need to study full-time.

If you are applying for a Student Visa, an Offer of Place and a receipt will be provided to comply with NZIS requirements when your fees have been paid.

If you decide to shorten your course after arriving in New Zealand CCEL will notify the New Zealand Immigration Service.

Full details of visa and permit requirements, advice on rights to employment in New Zealand while studying, and reporting requirements are available through the New Zealand Immigration Service, and can be viewed on their website at http://www.immigration.govt.nz/
